OSU Welcomes High School Marching Bands to Buckeye Invitational
On Saturday, September 28, 2019, the Ohio Music Education Association and The Ohio State University Marching Band will welcome high school marching bands to historic Ohio Stadium. OSU alum, Ryan McCuskey discusses the annual Buckeye Invitational competition.
A major fan of the Buckeyes, OSU alum, Ryan McCuskey loves cheering on the University’s football team! An interesting balance of artistic and athletic, the Ohio State University Marching Band has always been a highlight of the football games. More than just the performers of the football team’s enthusiastic soundtrack, the marching band inspires a contagious energy within the players and their fans!
The Buckeye Invitational is the high school marching band competition of the year. High school band members are given the chance to learn from the best while soaking up the incredible energy present at historic Ohio Stadium. Competing marching bands will receive feedback from:
- Dr. Michael Stewart (Associate Professor of Music Education & Associate Director of Bands at the University of Tennessee)
- Dr. Eric Smedley (Associate Professor of Music at Indiana University)
- Mr. Jeff Shellhammer (Retired Director of Bands at Gahanna Lincoln High School)
A proud alum of The Ohio State University and a lifelong fan of the Buckeyes, Ryan McCuskey eagerly anticipates this incredibly entertaining event.
